“No matter where you’re from, everyone’s local!”
“I had no idea there was so much going on”
Andy, Garry and Tracy are the team of North Guildford Community Wardens employed by Guildford Borough Council. Their main base is at the Park Barn Social Centre with an additional office at St Peter’s Church in Bellfields.
The role of the team is to focus on improving the lives of people living within the north of Guildford as part of a council priority called Project Aspire.
This involves supporting community groups and helping those in need such as the lonely or vulnerable. They have a particular focus on health and wellbeing and can help to signpost those experiencing mental health, financial issues or loneliness within our community.
Connecting with residents is an important part of the role and the team arrange regular “coffee and cake” sessions throughout the area where people can come together socially to discuss local concerns.
Their community office is open to anyone without any need for an appointment as are the drop in surgery sessions held twice weekly at St Peter’s Church. You will also see the wardens supporting or organising community events for all ages and backgrounds.
The community wardens value the sharing of local information and suggestions to improve and enhance services and facilities. You can contact them in the following ways:
