“Our focus is on creating a cohesive community network, whereby we can support groups and residents to assist each other in making Stoke a great place to live. “
Home-Start Guildford is a charity that provides specially trained volunteers to support local families, with at least one child under the age of five who are struggling to cope. Families may be having difficulties due to post-natal depression, family breakdown, illness, isolation, disability, twins / triplets, or just finding parenting a struggle.
Our volunteers visit families in their homes and are usually referred to us by health visitors or other professionals. We aim to help the parents give their children the best possible start in life.
If you would like support for your family, please speak to your health visitor or your local children’s centre or call us on 01483 511181.
Volunteer Opportunities: We recruit and train volunteers to visit families once a week for a few hours and provide practical and emotional support to the parent.
Our volunteers need to have had parenting experience, enjoy playing with young children, a friendly and caring attitude, and be a good non-judgemental listener.
The support the volunteers provide helps parents find confidence and ways to cope, and ultimately give their children a secure childhood. We support families in Stoke and beyond and our offices and training are based in Burpham.
If you’d like to volunteer for us please see our website and contact us.
