“I feel we are very fortunate living in Ash as there are many opportunities for people to get involved, make friends, learn new skills and be a part of the community we live in.
I hope you find something that interests you.”

Ash & District Photo Club
The Ash & District Photo Club is a traditional self-help group aimed mainly at retired people who have an interest in any aspect of photography.
Members from beginners to those with considerable experience are welcome. We meet monthly, during the afternoon, and divide our meeting into a few parts including a “how to do it” subject, a review of members pictures on a chosen theme and a part for problems, gossip and show off.
For our “how to do it” subjects members are encouraged to give a short, informal, talk on a subject in which they have an interest. Care is taken to balance these subjects across the range of experience in the club.
Each month we select a subject for a picture review. Members are encouraged to take up to three photos of a subject chosen by the group at the previous meeting. At the following meeting the club will look at the results and talk about any issues or ideas that were found or used. These pictures do not have to be perfect.
This is not a competition and presenting one that went wrong could provide as much useful knowledge to the group as a perfect one. Our recent subjects have included, “Transport”, “Something beginning with O”, and “Tempting and Tantalising. We have also introduced a “Talk-about” subject where a member volunteers to show and describe three or four pictures that they found interesting or have influenced their lives.
